Javier Junceda

Full Member of the Royal European Academy of Doctors. Attorney and Professor of Administrative Law

He is an attorney, Professor of Administrative Law, and the author of more than 200 scholarly publications. He is a Full Member of the Royal European Academy of Doctors, a Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain and the North American Academy of the Spanish Language, an Honorary Member of the Peruvian Academy of Law, and a Full Member of the Royal Asturian Academy of Jurisprudence. He has also been awarded honorary doctorates in Law by six international universities—including the National University of San Marcos, the oldest university in the Americas—and has been appointed Honorary Professor at six additional institutions.

Throughout his distinguished career, he has delivered lectures in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Spain, and other countries. He combines his legal practice at Junceda Abogados, the law firm he founded in 1994, with teaching appointments at universities in Madrid, Barcelona, Oviedo, and Buenos Aires. He has also served as Dean at two universities, including two consecutive terms at one of them.

Prof. Junceda contributed to the Pan-Hispanic Dictionary of Legal Spanish, an initiative led by the Royal Spanish Academy and the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language, and directed and authored the Hispanic–U.S. Legal Glossary for the North American Academy of the Spanish Language.

Since 2016, he has served as a member of the Urban Planning and Land Use Commission of the Principality of Asturias, appointed by the Spanish Government as a recognized expert. Since 2022, he has also been a member of the Advisory Board of the Spanish Association of Urban Planning Law. In addition, he serves as Coordinator of Administrative Law for the Master’s Degree in Legal Practice and Court Representation at the University of Oviedo and the Bar Associations of Oviedo and Gijón, and is the founder and director of the Hispanic American Studies Center.
