Daniel Sánchez

International Expert in Public Finance and Procurement, Paris Agreement Support Unit

Daniel is a public finance expert with extensive experience in international development, with a particular focus on strengthening the sustainability of public expenditure.

Based in Washington, D.C., he currently works with the Paris Agreement Secretariat, hosted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the World Resources Institute (WRI).

In this role, he develops programs that connect governments around the world with the technical assistance and financial resources needed to meet their commitments under the Paris Agreement and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Before joining the Paris Agreement Secretariat, Daniel worked at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), supporting anti-corruption initiatives aimed at strengthening the resilience and sustainability of public finances. He has also advised governments and international organizations on public finance and procurement, including the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), the UK’s international development agency, UK Aid, and the Canadian international development agency.

Originally from Bolivia, Daniel is a strong advocate for the use of innovation and technology to address governance challenges. He has published extensively on this subject and regularly speaks at universities and specialized forums across the United States, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

His academic background includes a Master of Business Administration from Universidad Católica, a Master of Public Administration from American University, and a Master’s degree in Climate Finance from Goethe University Frankfurt, as well as postgraduate studies at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
