Sofía García Bailón
She is a Procurement Specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in the Argentina Country Office. She currently oversees more than 35 projects across a wide range of sectors, including infrastructure, social development, institutional strengthening, productivity, trade, and innovation. She also leads the National Systems agenda; coordinates initiatives related to quality standards and oversees the implementation of the new “Client Portal” system within the country’s procurement area.
Before joining the IDB, Sofía worked at the World Bank and held positions in the governments of Argentina and Ecuador, where she served as Strategic Coordinator at the Ministry of the Interior. She also has experience in the Argentine private sector. In total, she has over 12 years of experience working with multilateral development banks, including 10 years at the IDB.
Sofía holds a degree in Civil Engineering and a master’s degree in environmental engineering. She completed her formal education in Ecuador, Argentina, and Japan, which has provided her with a strong and diverse international perspective.
